Survive Diplomacy

Rules (version 4)

1) At the end of every even year (F1902, F1904, etc.) during adjustments, players will vote one power out of the game. The results of the vote will be made public once adjustments process. Specific votes and numbers will not be made public, only who is the power that leaves. For larger variants, 3 years between votes is more appropriate (Modern, Empire, etc.).

2) Each player receives a number of votes equal to the number of SCs they own during the adjustment phase in question.

3) Players distribute their votes to the other powers (but not to themselves) via 'press to m'. Players can discuss with each other how they should distribute votes. All votes must be used. Votes can be split among different players.

4a) Whoever has the most votes against is out of the game. All of their units HOLD (may be supported by foreign units) and disband if dislodged.

4b) If a voted out player must remove a unit in the adjustment phase, they must remove the first unit of theirs listed (in the game listing) that is not sitting on an SC. If no such unit is available for removal, the player then removes the first unit on their list.

4c) Players eliminated through force (owning zero SCs during an adjustment) are considered voted out, and not eligible to be voted for.

5a) In the case of an n-way tie in voting, those 'n' players are eliminated.

5b) If rule 5a) ends the game with no winners, then instead of the playing powers voting, the outcast powers remaining cast one vote on who should be the victor. If the number of remaining outcast powers is even, the master also votes. These votes then determine who wins the game.

6) The winner is the last player left. For judge purposes, victory conditions should be set at the number of SCs plus one (eg. 35 in standard).

7) THERE WILL BE NO DRAWS.

8) If you are voted out, you must remain in the game as least until the judge recognizes you have no units left! Do not resign, even if your units are immobile. If you do, the judge will not let the game continue. Masters are not responsible for any dedication or JDPR loss on your part should you resign.

Changes from V1.0 include:
- Naturally eliminated powers cannot be voted for. This is to discourage the carebear play from V1.0 (rule 4c)
- Draws specifically disallowed. (rule 7)
- Eliminated player press allowed. It turned out to be a non-issue.
Changes from V2.0 include:
- All games now end with a winner. (rule 5b)
Changes from V3.0 include:
- A rule to prevent people from wandering off. (rule 8)
- Some tiny rule tweakings.
- Extended vote periods for large variants.
